Thailand’s renowned lifestyle brand, Jim Thompson, is introducing its new chapter with the launch of the ‘Jim Thompson Heritage and Creative Quarter’ retail project in the heart of Bangkok.

Group CEO at Jim Thompson, Frank Cancelloni, said the project is expected to be completed by April next year.

Besides Jim Thompson House Museum, the multi-million dollar project will also feature a new ‘Museum About the Man’, a Home Furnishings Exhibition, a cafe and an ‘Iconic Store’ on a 1400sqm premise. Customers will be able to explore silk traditions and the Thai spirit of creation as well as discover exhibitions about the life and work of the ‘Silk King’.

The retailer said the original Jim Thompson House Museum will remain intact, featuring six teak houses which are home to a wide collection of Southeast Asian art.

The Icon Store houses more than 6000 items, ranging from menswear, womenswear, bags, knick-knacks, accessories and homeware, to exclusive collections.

‘The Man Himself’ exhibition emphasises important turning points in Thompson’s life, from his early years to the final day he was seen, using the archives of The James HW Thompson Foundation. The exhibition also traces the development of Jim Thompson Fabrics from Vogue to Broadway to its status as the sole international lifestyle brand in Thailand.

While the home furnishing exhibition dubbed ‘The Evolving World of Jim Thompson Textiles’ unveils the story of the Thai Silk Company Limited and its successes in the textile and fabric world, The Jim Thompson Art Center serves as a haven for artists and cultural communities to express ideas, mingle, and exchange dialogues. Events, lectures and seminars are organised regularly here.

“The Jim Thompson Heritage Quarter is a complete lifestyle experience for visitors from all over the world,” said Cancelloni. “It is the only destination that has everything: high-quality silk in countless varieties, quality shopping, various dining options, contemporary fashion, culture and entertainment all in one central location.”
