Maison Francis Kurkdjian accelerates expansion in Asia

LVMH-owned luxury fragrance house Maison Francis Kurkdjian has been expanding its presence in Asia, introducing its first flagship stores in Thailand and Singapore.

The brand recently opened a flagship in Thailand’s luxury shopping complex IconSiam after five years of operation in the country with stores at Siam Paragon and EmQuartier.

The new Thai flagship is in partnership with the brand’s local partner Prestige Products Thailand. The brand aims to increase its points of distribution in the country to five.

“We chose to open our own boutique here as the country is sophisticated with ultra-high-end retail, art of living and culture that perfectly fits our model,” co-founder and CEO, Marc Chaya, told the Bangkok Post.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian IconSiam opened just five days after the opening of the brand’s first standalone boutique in Singapore. Located at Takashimaya Ngee An City in Orchard Road, the flagship store was launched in partnership with omnichannel brand builder LuxAsia.

Regional brand GM at Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Emily Au, said on a post the move reflects the rising sophistication of fragrance consumers in Southeast Asia.

The brand has also added a new boutique at K11 Musea after entering Mainland China with its first boutique in Nanjing Deji Department store and an online store with Tmall earlier this year. The expansion plan was discussed by the CEO in an interview with Inside Retail last September.

“Our approach is to stay ultra-selective and to open only in top locations worldwide, with the goal of offering a beautiful customer experience in every door,” Chaya said.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian was founded amid a global recession in 2009 by Francis Kurkdjian and Chaya. The French luxury perfume brand was bought by LVMH in 2017.
