Loewe has opened its first Loewe ReCraft store – part of its commitment to the long-term viability of the luxury brand’s handcrafted bags.

Located in Osaka, Japan, the store offers nurturing and repairing services as well as a large range of woven leather baskets and pockets made from repurposed surplus materials from past seasons.

“Loewe ReCraft is about the joy of craft beyond the new. It’s a commitment to breathing fresh life into long-cherished possessions,” the brand wrote in a statement.

Loewe said the company is still in the early stages of its journey, which began in 2019 with the release of its inaugural Eye/Loewe/Nature collection, which serves as a laboratory for more sustainable practices and has allowed it to lower its overall CO2 emissions by 25 per cent.

Loewe, founded in 1846, represents the pinnacle of Spanish luxury, focusing on leather products, ready-to-wear, accessories, and perfumes. In 1996, the company joined LVMH, the world’s largest luxury goods conglomerate.

In 2020, Casa Loewe opened its first store in Southeast Asia, in downtown Singapore.
