Luxury fashion house Hermes is ramping up its expansion in Mainland China with a physical store opened in Tianjin.

The store is the 28th in Mainland China. Hermes previously had a store in Tianjin in 2011 but closed it four years later.

The venue, which is located in MixC mall, has a locally-made facade and colourful glazed ceramic bricks, as well as floor-to-ceiling glass windows that attempt to disclose the store interiors to passersby.

At the main entrance, the open floor plan features women’s silks, followed by a selection of trendy jewellery, perfume, and beauty products.

The equestrian and leather collections are at the centre of the store, followed by the men’s range, which includes a selection of shoes, accessories, and silks and is accessible by a second entrance.

The store also features a number of rectangular salons with trademark Grecques lighting and Faubourg tiles. The colour palette runs from deep reds to blues and is complemented by handcrafted furnishings and inviting sofas.

Visitors can see a collection of 21 artworks around the store, including modern photography from the Hermes collection, etchings and illustrations from Emile Hermes’ personal collection, and carré prints.

The Birkin bag maker established a new store in China’s Nanjing city earlier this year, indicating the luxury industry’s confidence in a robust return of Chinese customers following three years of stringent Covid-19 restrictions.
