Hong Kong-based hospitality group Pirata Group has appointed Roberto Garrone as its new COO.

Garrone, born in Italy, has almost 30 years of experience working for premium hospitality companies globally. In his capacity as a seasoned worldwide restaurateur and hotelier, he is in charge of strengthening the group’s dedication to developing top talent, optimising returns from its present portfolio, and driving the change for the next phase of growth.

Garrone’s most recent position before joining the group was hotel manager for the launch of the Lusail Twin Towers in Doha for the FIFA World Cup 2022, which included 18 restaurants. His international career has led him to cities including Cape Town, Dubai, Beijing, and Doha.

“His diverse international background and proven track record of success in the premium hospitality sector is a testament to his commitment to excellence,” said group CEO Steen Puggaard.

“Having him on board as COO reaffirms our dedication to redefining hospitality and creating extraordinary, memorable experiences driven by quality food, great service, and value for money.”

According to Pirata, Garrone’s experience in operations management, leadership, launching new companies, and providing great guest service complements its commitment to providing creative and unconditional hospitality.

Garrone’s appointment also demonstrates the group’s dedication to its “Team comes first” strategy, which is centred on attracting and maintaining top global talent.
