Zus Coffee is expected to open its first store in the Philippines on September 19, marking the start of the chain’s international expansion.
The venue will be located on the ground floor of Eastwood Le Grand Tower 2 in Eastwood City, Quezon City.
The international foray comes after Filipino restaurant group Choi Garden Restaurant Company acquired a 35 per cent stake in the coffee chain in March.
In a LinkedIn post, Zus Coffee CEO Venon Tian said the company plans to open six outlets in the Philippines this year.
Founded in 2019, Zus Coffee serves specialty coffee at an affordable price and now has about 290 stores across Malaysia. The brand sources its coffee beans from Brazil.
In early June, another Malaysian coffee chain OldTown White Coffee launched its first brick-and-mortar store in the Philippines – in Caloocan’s SM City Grand Central, as part of its market expansion strategy.
In July, Japanese coffee chain % Arabica returned to the Philippines with the launch of its physical location after closing all of its operations in the country last year.
