Cedric Grolet, a well-known French pastry chef, has established his first brick-and-mortar store in Singapore, at Como Orchard.
The first-floor store features a variety of viennoiseries, including his famous croissant, pain au chocolat, Pain Suisse, and Parisian flan, as well as items inspired by fruits and flowers and a Singapore-specific tea menu.
However, local sources say Cedric Grolet’s Singapore store has received mixed reactions after its opening.
The store received a score of 3.3 out of five stars from 68 submissions on Google, alleging poor customer service, poor planning, and a queueing system. In contrast, several customers have given the store five stars.
Born in 1985, Grolet specialises in fruits and the reworking of traditional French desserts. He is also the author of Fruits, a cookbook that explores his fruit-based treats.
The famous chef built his first store in Paris in 2018, followed by The Berkeley in London last year. The Como Orchard store is the fourth in the world.
