Moroccan coffee chain Bacha Coffee has expanded into Malaysia, opening its first store inside Kuala Lumpur’s Suria KLCC.

The Bacha Coffee concept store spans 7000sqft with a capacity of up to 92 guests, featuring a boutique, takeaway counter, and coffee room. The Malaysia launch is part of the company’s expansion plan where it aims to extend to 38 locations across 11 countries this year.

“Malaysia is one of the stops on our world tour of global openings this year, and an important step in our Southeast Asian expansion strategy,” explains Taha Bouqdib, president and CEO of V3 Gourmet, Bacha Coffee’s operator.

“We have plans underway for Bacha Coffee to enter six other key markets including Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, Taiwan, South Korea and Indonesia, bringing the total number of touchpoints to 50 locations across 11 countries around the world in Europe, the Middle East and Asia by 2024,” Bouqdib told Inside Retail Asia.

The launch of Bacha Coffee Malaysia came after the opening of its first Hong Kong store in IFC Mall earlier this year.

Bach Coffee was founded in Marrakech’s Dar el Bacha palace in 1910. It reopened its original Marrakech location in 2019 and opened its first international outpost in Singapore concurrently. The brand is known for its 100 per cent Arabica coffees, gifts, coffee rooms and takeaway, incorporating international distribution and wholesale to professionals.
