Watch retailer Richard Mille has launched its flagship store in Singapore at 1 St Martin Drive in the Orchard Road district.

The 700sqm store, which includes a dining area, sports bar, watchmaking counter and a concealed library, reportedly took three years to complete.

The location, which was previously a restaurant, is inspired by a speakeasy concept, and the brand said that its facade “conceals a surprising venue deeper within.”

The location’s airy, open-plan interiors aim to provide customers with a pleasant and informal ambience, providing a sense of closeness and intimate connection within a circle of friends, as well as an instinctive sense of being at home.

According to the firm, to achieve this impression, the great bulk of the furniture and decorative items were built and designed specifically for each of the rooms to highlight their different personalities. From leather to wood, metal, stone, and glass, 250 materials were chosen through a procurement process based on production qualities and aesthetic value.

“St Martin was designed in perfect harmony with this philosophy conducive to fostering human relationships,” said Amanda Mille, brand and partnerships director.

“This venue awakens emotions and elevates the art of hospitality so dear to Richard Mille, thanks in particular to an innovative vision.”

The centrepiece is a creation by French visual artist William Amor: an olive tree that takes root in the Hub’s centre. This creation represents loyalty, transmission, resistance, friendship, tranquillity, and health. The tree also symbolises Richard Mille’s love of the Mediterranean area.
