CEO of Singapore-headquartered delivery service company Foodpanda, Jakob Angele, has departed the company as its parent Delivery Hero undertakes discussions over the sale of parts of the Southeast Asia business.

John Fang, who held the position of chief international officer, (pictured above) will succeed Angele as the company’s new CEO and continue to lead and oversee Foodpanda’s business. Fang joined the company six years ago as CEO of Foodpanda Taiwan. In his latest role, he managed business operations across the company’s 11 markets.

The company said Fang will stay focused to “bring value and purpose to the food and grocery delivery ecosystem that Foodpanda serves”.

Angele joined Foodpanda in 2014 and was named CEO in January 2017.

The leadership change came after the company confirmed negotiations regarding a potential sale of its business in selected Southeast Asia markets last month as part of its plan to “streamline operations to become leaner and more agile”.

The company was also reportedly laying off staff across the region.
