Hong Kong-based lingerie and swimwear company Hop Lun has announced its acquisition of Rainbow West Apparel (RW Designs) for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Los Angeles, RW Designs is a woman and minority-owned swimwear company that serves as a private label design house and manufacturer. The firm also has experience across other categories including intimates, activewear and loungewear.

“We look forward to leveraging Hop Lun’s vast resources and manufacturing scale throughout several countries of origin to provide even better and broader services and consistency to our customers,” said RW Designs co-founder and CEO Esther Maya.

Hop Lun founder and CEO Erik Ryd described the acquisition as an important part of the company’s strategy, allowing it to offer RW Designs’ sample and design capabilities to customers.

Established in 1992, Hop Lun is a leading designer and manufacturer of intimate apparel, and is the largest global provider of bra solutions, with operations in Bangladesh, Indonesia, China and Hong Kong. It is a portfolio company of global investment firm Platinum Equity.

The firm has its own wholesale brand, Dorina, and a retail brand, 6ixty8ight, which has over 140 stores across Asia.
