With Hong Kong on the cusp of an Artificial Intelligence boom, it is fitting that the burgeoning technology is a leading topic at Asia’s top marketing and e-tailing conferences, MarketingPulse and eTailingPulse.

The coinciding events will be held at the HKCEC on March 13 offering Asia’s marketers, agencies and e-commerce experts a knowledge exchange and partnership-building platform to capture the business opportunities in the region.

An AI futurist’s take

Among the speakers focused on AI  is Zack Kass, an AI futurist, who headed up Go To Market with OpenAI from 2021 until last year.

Kass stands out as one of the brightest minds in AI today, with a robust 14-year journey at the epicentre of technological evolution, working with some of the largest companies in the world. He played a significant role in converting state-of-the-art AI research into real-world business applications, something that has positioned him as one the foremost thinkers globally in Applied AI.

He says his mission is to ensure that businesses and governments are active participants in the AI-powered future, equipped to enable a future of abundance. But a key part of achieving that goal is to demystify AI as a technology, making it accessible and understandable for everyone, and helping leaders navigate the rapidly evolving environment.

“The world is about to change in radical, wonderful ways. Consumers and brands alike will soon have very new expectations. Those who move fast will be rewarded. Those who don’t may be left behind for good,” he said.

Beyond the corporate world, Kass is a staunch advocate for AI’s potential to revolutionise local governance. He is working to promote AI as a tool that can significantly enhance community service and “overall societal welfare” working towards the betterment of communities and societies at large.

AI for edtech

Another key speaker on the AI theme is Tommie Lo, founder & CEO of Preface, a tech-enabling company that empowers enterprises and individuals worldwide to stay ahead in today’s tech-driven world through the production of technology content and training.

“With its strategic location, vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, and unique blend of cultural heritage and progressive tech scene, Hong Kong offers limitless opportunities for businesses to tap into Asia’s dynamic market and redefine the industry,” Lo told Inside Retail ahead of the MarketingPulse event.

Lo’s innovative and inspirational approach to explaining AI and other technologies has touched the hearts of many, from aspiring kid coders and curious learners to digital-transforming enterprises and educational institutions.

“We see a future where AI is a standard part of the workforce, and learning extends beyond the classroom into a collaborative effort with schools, communities, and corporations,” Lo said.

“It’s a place where innovation is ignited, and collaboration is fostered, paving the way for groundbreaking advancements in our industry.”

Preface operates globally, with offices in Hong Kong, London, Singapore, and Tokyo. Its AI-powered training programs provide fast and relevant content to help learners future-proof their businesses and careers.

Lo has always aspired to be a disruptor of traditional education. Throughout the years, he has led Preface to re-engineer tech and coding education and re-design the classroom experience through a decentralised learning model. He also demonstrated his bold approach in Preface Coffee & Wine, a unique cafe and educational space that promotes lifestyle learning and aims to become the go-to place for the latest tech knowledge and edutainment experiences.

Looking ahead from now until 2030, Lo has huge optimism for AI technology and Hong Kong’s role as a hub of innovation.

“New technologies and AI tools are at the service of your vision for nurturing a bright new generation of talent, revolutionising the marketing landscape and unlocking unprecedented possibilities,” he concluded.
