Marithe Francois Girbaud’s distributor in South Korea, Layer, has secured exclusive licensing rights for the French fashion brand in Asia.

The brand was rebranded in 2019 in partnership with Layer, which led to a revenue of US$74 million last year and the opening of 61 locations in the country.

The company said it is in talks with local importers and distributors in high-demand markets, including Greater China, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam, for exclusive sales rights. The company plans to roll out overseas pop-up stores by the end of the year to lure Asian customers ahead of full-scale sales.

“Marithe Francois Girbaud’s headquarters in France and Layer will join forces as one team to enter the international market,” said Shin Chan-ho, CEO of Layer.
