Luxury retailer Hermes has opened a refurbished store in Beijing’s SKP Mall, bolstering its presence in the nation with each of its 34 locations paying homage to Chinese culture.

The Beijing store’s design is inspired by traditional Shan Shui artwork, with a linear pattern resembling brushstrokes etched into the rocks which, the company says, symbolises the progressive erosion of mountains by waterfalls.

The store has two floors, the first housing women’s silk range, jewellery collection, and leather and equestrian products.

The upper floor holds the men’s range, which includes ready-to-wear and silk, as well as leather, shoes, and homewares collections. Both floors include fitting rooms and a separate salon.

The store, designed by Parisian architecture firm Rdai, interprets traditional Chinese art with clean lines, tactile materials, and a natural colour palette of ochre, sand, and watery blue. It also contains a handpicked mix of artworks from the Émile Hermès collection which enhances the decoration, blending with photos from the Hermès modern photography collection.
