Swedish fashion house Acne Studios has extended its footprint in China with its third physical store in Beijing.
Located in the Taikoo Li Sanlitun luxury retail district, the two-story store spans 436sqm and is one of the brand’s largest stores worldwide. Acne Studios’ creative director, Jonny Johansson, collaborated with the Swedish design studio Halleroed to design the space.
The location boasts a storefront covered in pink granite stone, extending into the interiors and encompassing the entire floor, and a striking sculptural staircase at the centre.
The furnishings include sleek steel clothing racks along the walls, a black-blob leather sofa by British furniture designer Max Lamb, lighting fixtures, modular glass display cabinets with pink anodized metal, natural silver-coloured frames by Paris-based designer Benoit Lallos, and mannequins created by artist Daniel Silver.
On the floor above, the area has a similar design but is covered by a grey carpet with a geometric pattern resembling a concrete outdoor paving tile. Furnishings include an elongated, tiered metal shelving unit, steel clothing racks, and another black-blob leather sofa.
“We wanted to give the best of Acne Studios to Beijing in a much stronger setting,” Mattias Magnusson, CEO of Acne Studios, told WWD.
“When they [Taikoo Li Sanlitun] offered us to open a more real flagship, we jumped at it. We wanted it to be almost at the intersection between North and South so that we could meet clients from both parts.”
The new store will carry the brand’s full range of women’s and men’s apparel and a collection of limited-edition pieces in various shades of pink.
