Hong Kong-listed food store chain Best Mart 360 has posted improvements in both sales and profit for the first six months ended June 30.

The company’s revenue rose 10.6 per cent year-on-year to approximately HK$1.4 billion (US$180 million), while profit attributable to owners increased 6.2 per cent to HK$122.6 million.

By the end of June, the number of chain retail stores rose to 175, including 168 locations in Hong Kong and seven in Macau. The company also operates seven shops under the FoodVille brand, which it launched in 2021 as a more upmarket destination.

The retailer said it focused on improving the stocking arrangement, product display and shop appearance to provide a better shopping experience and enhance the brand image.

During the six-month period, Best Mart 360 sold more than 1150 brands and over 3237 stock keeping units of products. The company plans to further optimise its product portfolio to stay abreast of changes in customer demands.

As of June 30, the number of registered fans and members was approximately 2.2 million.

Despite the growth, the company expects the retail market will remain sluggish in the short term and that the market environment will continue to be challenging. It cited high interest rates and geopolitical tensions, coupled with the increase in outbound travel and northbound consumption trend.
