Nearly eight years after its debut in Vietnam, 7-Eleven has opened its first store in Hanoi, heralding a new phase of national expansion.

Located at 52 Lo Su near the Huc Bridge and Ngoc Son Temple, 7-Eleven said the store signals “renewed momentum” in the capital, where it plans, through its local partner, to recruit staff and secure more prime retail locations early next year.

7-Eleven entered Vietnam in 2017 through a franchise agreement between Japan’s Seven & I Holdings, via its US-based subsidiary, and local partner Seven System Corporation.

While the company initially aimed to open 1000 stores within its first decade, progress has been slower than expected, with 120 stores currently operating in Ho Chi Minh City.

Despite this, B Company reports that 7-Eleven Vietnam has achieved steady revenue growth – up 18 per cent in 2021, 26 per cent in 2022, and 37 per cent in 2023 – reaching nearly US$32.6 million last year.

“We would like to express our sincere thanks to our partners and suppliers for your strong support during the preparation phase,” 7-Eleven Vietnam posted on LinkedIn.

“And most of all, thank you to every team member who gave all your days, nights, and weekends over the past months to bring the Hanoi project to life. We could not have done it without you.”
