Chagee Singapore has introduced Southeast Asia’s first-ever Signing Store at the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Yusof Ishak House.

The store is operated entirely by deaf and hard-of-hearing beverage makers, made possible through a partnership between Chagee and SG Enable and the Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf).

According to Lawrence Wen, CEO of Chagee Singapore, the initiative is aimed at more than just employment; it’s about empowerment and building meaningful community connections through inclusive design.

“This launch goes beyond business,” said Wen. “It is a powerful reminder of how inclusive design, purposeful partnerships, and a belief in untapped potential can transform the way we connect and serve.”

The store incorporates a range of accessibility-focused features, including visual ordering systems, sound-absorbing interiors, and an open kitchen layout to support both functionality and visibility.

Communication is via text-based tools and signage, with a notable highlight being the store’s interactive flipboards, which teach customers basic sign language.

Earlier this month, Chagee’s net revenues for the first quarter of this year skyrocketed 35.4 per cent to RMB3.39 billion (US$467.5 million), as compared to the same period last year.
