Bandai is set to open its factory-themed concept store, Tamagotchi Factory!, in Harajuku, Tokyo, next month.
Located on the third floor of the Harakado building in Jingumae, Shibuya, the store marks the brand’s first permanent retail space since the closure of Tama Depa in 2017 and reflects its renewed global popularity.
The store is designed around the theme of “experience” and combines retail with interactive elements. Visitors can customise their virtual pets, while the store’s interior and staff uniforms are styled to resemble a whimsical working factory.
One of the store’s main attractions is the “Minitama Fill-Up!” station, where visitors can fill a Tamagotchi-shaped bottle with miniature figures and themed items such as sweets, rice balls, and the brand’s signature “poop” icons.
Since debuting in the 1990s, the virtual pet franchise has sold more than 100 million units worldwide and continues to expand through new releases such as Tamagotchi Plaza for Nintendo Switch and Tamagotchi Paradise.
