Eyewear brand Gentle Monster, owned by Iicombined, is taking legal action against a Korean eyewear brand over allegations of copying its product designs and offline space concepts.
Iicombined said that Gentle Monster, which has received investment from Google and LVMH-affiliated investment firms, has no business or manufacturing relationships with any other eyewear company. It added that an internal investigation found that the accused, Blue Elephant, had at least 30 eyewear products with a “high level” of resemblance to its own.
Singapore’s The Straits Times reported that Blue Elephant sold similarly designed products at one-fifth the price of Gentle Monster’s.
A design invalidation trial was then filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board in March 2025. A decision is currently pending.
Iicombined is pursuing both civil and criminal legal action, filing a criminal complaint against Blue Elephant with investigative authorities in December 2024. In October 2025, Iicombined filed a further lawsuit seeking an injunction and damages under the Unfair Competition Prevention Act.
