Kopi Kenangan co-founder and group CEO Edward Tirtanata, along with several existing investors, has increased their stakes in the Indonesian coffee chain as the business continues its regional expansion.

Tirtanata’s investment is part of the company’s ongoing funding round and includes the purchase of shares from early team members and shareholders. Existing investors Alpha JWC Ventures, Tybourne Capital Management and Horizons Ventures have also increased their stakes, while institutional investors have expressed interest in the broader round.

“Many of our people joined when we were eight stores in Jakarta. They took a chance on us before anyone else did. They’ve earned the right to turn some of what they built into real liquidity. And it means a lot to me,” Tirtanata said.

The investment comes as Kopi Kenangan continues to scale. According to figures from Alpha JWC, the company recorded 62 per cent year-on-year revenue growth in the first half of 2026, while EBITDA increased 86 per cent year on year in the second quarter.

The chain now operates more than 1500 locations across seven markets, with 221 new outlets opened so far this year.

Alpha JWC, which has backed Kopi Kenangan since its early years, said it was increasing its exposure as the company enters its next phase of growth.

“We remain actively investing in Indonesia and beyond, and continue to believe in Kopi Kenangan’s growth and potential,” Alpha JWC said in a statement.

Last year, the company extended its presence in Asia after reaching profitability in Malaysia, three years after entering the market. It also opened its first store in Taiwan in April.

Founded in 2017, Kopi Kenangan has built its brand around affordable grab-and-go coffee, using Indonesian beans and palm sugar (gula aren). Its menu includes signature drinks such as the Kenangan Latte, Spanish Latte, and Americano.
