StartJG Hong Kong has partnered with the Hong Kong Design Institute to teach a 90-hour professional course on branding and retail design.
Led by Ellis Lowers, Senior 3D designer at StartJG whose works claimed seven awards at the inaugural Transform Asia-Pacific Awards and together with guest lecturers from speakers leading the creative and retail industry, the partnership seeks to support the growth and nurturing of local talent in Hong Kong.
The course will run through to October at HKDI’s campus with the aim of inspiring and enhancing students’ professional and practical skills in strategic retail design and branding and project management.
“As the retail market faces significant challenges in Hong Kong driven by the declining number of tourist visits from the Mainland which take up a large share of luxury brand consumption, the current retail space provides an exciting opportunity and fitting time for students to challenge their thinking in finding ways to engaging with customers and driving values for brands in an open and learning environment,” said Jonathan Cummings, MD of StartJG Hong Kong.
“We have always sought to engage with design schools in Hong Kong and play an active role in developing the next generation of designers. Retail is a core sector for us and a major one for Hong Kong so we’re delighted to be collaborating with HKDI on this course.”
Ellis Lowers added: “In today’s connected world, it has become ever more important for retail designers to deliver engaging experiences that encourages interaction but also delivers commercial results. I hope that my teaching will be invaluable to the students and also help to inspire and nurture creativity in Hong Kong’s future talent.”
