Online mall rides Korean Wave

As the regional – even global – influence of the Korean Wave grows, a new online retail venture is finding customers from as far away as Russia and Canada.

2Dello is a Korean specialty mall selling handmade accessories made popular by Korean pop stars and actors – the basis of the so-called Korean Wave culture. 2Dello helps people anywhere in the world find out about the clothes, shoes, and accessories that Korean Wave stars such as Lee Min-ho and Lee Jong-seok wear. And an increasing number of them are actually visiting Korea to directly purchase such products.

Recently, 2Dello was introduced to Hong Kong’s Weekend magazine and the number of Hong Kong tourists visiting Korea stopping by at 2Dello’s shops increased noticeably.

Co-CEOs, Hwang Min-soo and Song Seong-ho, launched an English language version of the site in August using the Global Service of Cafe24, Korea’s largest eCommerce solution business, by reflecting the growing interest of global customers. They are also planning to launch a Chinese site.

2Dello carries over 200 handmade products including bracelets, necklaces, and tie-pins that textured through 100 per cent self-design and self-production. They improved the products’ competitiveness through customised production service and maintained reasonable pricing

through the minimisation of distribution process.

“I feel confident as it seems that 2Dello is recognised for its quality and uniqueness at home and abroad,” said CEO Song Seong-ho. “We will continuously make efforts to provide the best handmade accessories for the customers around the world.”
