British jeweller enters Asia

British jewellery designer and retailer Boodles has opened its first store outside Europe in Hong Kong, a concession inside department store Lane Crawford.

Boodles has been planning for so long to expand internationally especially in Middle East and US, however, the jewellery designer has settled in Hong Kong due to the booming market in Asia.

Boodles says is continually eyeing opportunities for offshore expansion and that if the Lane Crawford concession proves a success, more concessions will open in other Lane Crawford stores. The company is also considering opening standalone stores across Asia.

According to Michael Wainwright, Boodles MD, the company is eyeing China for its next Asian location, most likely Shanghai or Beijing. Apart from Asia, the company also hopes to expand in New York within five years.

Boodles has been catering for international customers for quite some time and its concession inside London’s Harrods has proven a success.

Last year, Boodles has signed Iranian Tanaz Dizadji as its brand’s international face. Boodles also has stores in Liverpool, Dublin, Chester and Manchester.
