Vietnamese coffee chain for Philippines

Highlands Coffee, a Vietnamese coffee house and producer and distributor of Highlands coffee products, will soon open its first outlet in the Philippines.

Viet Thai International Joint Stock Company, registered owner of Highlands Coffee has signed a memorandum of agreement with IP Ventures, the parent company of the gaming firm IP E-Games Ventures. The MOA allows IP Ventures to have a franchising rights including using the brand, trademark and trade name of the coffee chain.

The MOA signing in Manila last week was witnessed by Vietnam’s president Truong Tan Sang who happened to be on a state visit to the Philippines.

Highlands Coffee was founded by David Thai in 1998 in Hanoi. Its first cafe was opened in 2002. The coffee chain is on track to expand to a total of 100 outlets by end of 2012.

Viet Thai International Joint Stock Company also owns franchising rights for several brands in Vietnam such as Aldo Shoes, La Vie en Rose lingerie, Nike and Hard Rock Cafe.
