Fashion retailers in Taiwan expansion

Spanish clothing and accessories retailer Zara will open its first store in Taiwan this week.

A 1487 sqm Zara store is slated to open on November 5 in Taipei 101 Skyscraper, the tallest building in Taipei. The brand is also planning to build another store in Zhongxiao East Rd, Taipei’s major shopping area.

Meanwhile, Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo is also set for an expansion in the country.

The retailer launched its fifth store in Taiwan on Friday in Taipei Main Station. The four level store measuring 1983sqm is the company’s first stand-alone store in Taiwan. Uniqlo will also open a sixth, three storey store, measuring 3635sqm, on November 25 in Ming Yao store.

Uniqlo Taiwan CEO Kousaka Takeshi said that the retailer is aiming to open 30 stores yearly until it completes its original goal of 100 stores across Taiwan.

Both brands are in a global race to roll out stores.
