Malaysian mall lures international brands

Eleven international brands have reportedly signed up to open in Malaysia’s Setia City Mall when it opens in mid 2012.

The international fashion brands MNG, Zara, Esprit, Guess, G2000, La Senza, Timberland, Rip Curl, Aldo, Cotton On and Cache Cache have been named. 

They will join Malaysian-based retailers and non-fashion brands including F.O.S, Nicchi, Padini, Courts, Harvey Norman, Fitness First, Urbanfresh supermarket and Wangsa Bowl.

Setia City Mall is a joint project of S P Setia and Australia’s Lend Lease. It is located in Setia Alam, 35 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur. 

“As we get closer to the opening month, we are pleased with the confidence shown by the international fashion community,” said Setia City Mall development director Robert Spinks.

“Offering these brands to our future customers will allow us to deliver on our promise to provide the Klang Valley with an exceptional shopping destination.” 

The Zara store, the Spanish chain’s seventh in Malaysia, will be spread over 16,000sqft anchoring the upper ground floor.

“The Zara brand is popular with Malaysian shoppers and our expansion into Setia City Mall helps progress our regional growth strategy,” said spokesman of RSH Malaysia, Zara franchisee in Malaysia.

The four level shopping mall will accommodate 11 major retailers, 230 specialty stores, nine screen cinema featuring latest digital and 3D technology to be operated by Golden Screen Cinemas and the 120, 000 sqft Parkson department store.
