US smoothie chain hits Philippines

Jamba Juice, the California-based chain of smoothie cafes, has opened its first store in the Philippines.

Jamba Inc, a holding company which owns and franchises Jamba Juice on a global basis, has partnered with Filipino company Max’s Group to bring the brand to the Philippines. Max’s owns and manages Max’s Restaurant, Krispy Kreme Philippines and Max’s Corner Bakery.

The first cafe, at Bonifacio Global City’s High St South, an urban community in Metro Manila, opened last Friday, November 11.

“Our first Jamba store is strategically located in a new and dynamic community, which is a perfect platform to launch our brand in the Philippines,” said Thibault de Chatellus, senior VP, international, Jamba Juice Company.

“Max’s Group has done a fantastic job creating media buzz and excitement about the Jamba brand as they get ready to open their first of 40 planned locations and we expect a very positive reception from Filipino consumers.”

Jamba Juice in Bonifacio Global City can accommodate as much as 50 customers and offers smoothies, fresh juices and teas, frozen yogurt, breakfast wraps, hot oatmeal made with organic steel cut oats, sandwiches and other baked goods.

“We believe that the Philippines has a huge potential for being one of the strongest markets for Jamba Juice, given the interest that Filipinos have shown, especially recently, for active living,” said Sharon Fuentebella, EVP Max’s Group of Companies and MD, Jamba Juice Philippines.

“We strongly believe that brand heritage and quality are some of the main reasons why we remain strong despite being in a highly competitive industry. And because Jamba Juice shares the same values, we are very excited to introduce the brand to Filipinos who appreciate the kind of quality and experience that Max’s Group of Companies consistently upholds.”

Jamba Juice and Max’s Group has agreed to set up 40 stores in the next coming 10 years. Jamba Juice has also nine franchises in South Korea and one in Canada. In the US, it has 752 stores, 310 of which are company-owned and operated stores and 442 are franchised stores.

Jamba Juice Philippines is the first Jamba Juice store in Southeast Asia.
