US burger chain Bali bound

US burger restaurant Johnny Rockets has signed a franchising agreement to open its ‘all-American restaurants’ in Indonesia.

The new franchise owner is Wiryantii Sukamdani, who is also the president of the Indonesian Tourism Board. He plans to open the first Indonesian Johnny Rockets restaurant at the new Beach Walk Center, on Kuta Bali beach, in the first half of 2012. The agreement also calls for four additional restaurants within the next five years.

An official signing ceremony was held as part of the International Franchise Association, US Commercial Service and Franchise Times trade mission to Vietnam and Indonesia. This week’s mission was assembled for 13 companies representing 19 brands to meet and develop business with prospective partners in those countries.

“The thing that makes Johnny Rockets such a unique international brand is that, although people can get a hamburger anywhere, we actually provide the decor, music, dancing, food and fun that signifies the best America has had to offer throughout the past 100 years,” said Johnny Rockets SVP of international development, Steve Devine.

Johnny Rockets CEO, John Fuller, said the Indonesian agreement further demonstrates the chain’s commitment to international development.

“If the response is similar to that which our brand receives in other non-US markets, there is no doubt that locals and tourists will appreciate the freshness, cleanliness, friendliness and liveliness we bring to the table, every day. We’re all about great food, outstanding service and an overall experience that makes people smile.”

Traditional Johnny Rockets restaurants feature visible grills, jukeboxes, dancing servers and dynamic full service with both dining room and counter seating. The made-after-you-order menu is filled with favorites that include hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, sides and shakes that stay true to the tradition of simple, high-quality, meals that are both satisfying and delicious.

Johnny Rockets currently operates restaurants in 16 countries, on five continents.
