Indonesia to get more Burger Kings

American fast-food chain Burger King has unfolded a plan to open 10 to 15 outlets in Indonesia this year.

Burger King Indonesia manager Maggie Effendy revealed the new outlets will be added to the current 30-strong chain opened over the four years since it debuted in Indonesia.

“We are aiming at first-tier cities in Java with our focus still on the Greater Jakarta area, as that is (predominantly) where our customers are located,” said Fetty Kwartati, corporate secretary of PT Mitra Adiperkasa, franchisee of Burger King in Indonesia.

Burger King Indonesia sees more profitable years ahead in the country, basing predictions on recent  years’ high sales growth. During the first nine months of 2011, the fast food chain earned Rp 238 billion (US$26.89 million), 61 per cent higher than same period in 2010.

Kwartati said that customers can expect more improved service, quality and strategy as it braces for competition with rival chains. New menus will be introduced.

Burger King has started introducing menus designed for special occasions, including the King’s Collection offered for Christmas and New Year. The King Collection serving XT Beefbacon Steakhouse, XT Swiss Steakhouse and Chicken TenderCrisp deluxe will be offered until the end of January.

Burger King competes with other American fast food chains such as Johnny Rockets and Carl’s Jr and other local brands in Indonesia.
