Scot debuts in Hong Kong

Museum Context, a Scottish brand which offers home interiors, accessories and quality giftware focusing on retro and vintage style, has opened a permanent shop at Prince’s Building, Chater Rd, Hong Kong.

Museum Context has been in Hong Kong since November last year when it opened a pop-up shop at the Landmark centre in Queen’s Rd, Central. The 550 sqft permanent store is decorated with bold red walls, vintage newspapers as a featured wall covering and bespoke black cabinets with mirrors and open mesh doors.

“This fills an entire wall and provides great opportunities for displaying our eclectic collection. Distinctive colonial style furniture, tripod lamps, hanging mobiles and vintage flight models complete the interior design,”said Andrew McRae, founder and collection curator of the brand.

McRae said Prince’s Building is an ideal location for the brand due to its existing mix of well established lifestyle and home interiors names.

Using Prince’s Building as flagship store, Museum Context plans to add more shops in the region in the future. It also plans to launch an online store, complementing its online shop in the UK and collaboratory projects with architects and designers for furnishing residential and commercial projects.

Based in one of the world’s most mature retail markets, Museum Context is hopeful that it will build strong sentiment from locals and visitors to Hong Kong alike.

“The biggest opportunity for Museum Context is that we can offer customers a genuine point of difference with a truly unique collection of quality heritage inspired home and gift products,” said McRae.
