Brotzeit enters China

Singapore’s home-grown German restaurant franchise, Brotzeit, has penetrated China’s booming F&B market with first restaurant opened at Shanghai World Financial Centre last month.

Brotzeit is scheduled to open 12 more in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangdong over the next five years.

“With its rapidly developing F&B sector and the largest number of consumers of food products in the world, there is no better time for Brotzeit’s presence in China,” said Sean Flynn, CEO of Brotzeit.

“China is just the tip of the iceberg for Brotzeit’s expansion plans as our goal is to open more than 80 stores in Southeast Asia, North Asia, New Zealand and Australia in the next five years,” Flynn added.

With nine outlets and counting in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore since its first launch in 2006, the appeal of Brotzeit’s Bavarian cuisine and premium German beers has been catching on amongst locals throughout Asia.

“The success of our first outlet in China is very encouraging, attracting 80 – 90 per cent of local Shanghainese customers. Our similar success in Vietnam and Malaysia also proves that Brotzeit’s concept resonates with locals,” said Malcolm Chao, VP of Brotzeit franchise operations.

Brotzeit’s future expansion includes further development deals in Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines with more territories in the pipeline.
