UGG to boost online presence

Footwear manufacturer Deckers Outdoor Corporation has appointed Vincent Lau as director of e-commerce for Asia-Pacific.

Lau will be responsible for building the online businesses for the Deckers family of brands, beginning with UGG Australia in China.

Before joining the company, Lau was the director of e-commerce of Sa Sa, the cosmetics retailing group in Asia. Prior to Sa Sa, he held marketing management positions at multi-national corporations including Turner Broadcasting and eBay in the US, Canada, China and Hong Kong.

“Vincent is joining us at a critical time in the expansion of our consumer channels worldwide, including the critical launch of our online presence in China,” said Deckers Outdoor president for the Asia-Pacific Pete Worley.

Lau’s first initiative will be the launch of the UGG brand’s foray into e-commerce in China. The brand’s official flagship store on TMall will launch on April 1, while the brand’s own official China site will launch on May 1.

UGG Australia currently has 20 brick-and-mortar stores in China with plans to open approximately 15 more in this year, including a flagship store in Hong Kong, opening in April as well.
