Philippines gets new mall

Century City Mall, the landmark retail and leisure complex being developed by Century Properties Group in Makati City, the Philippines, is set to open in the fourth quarter of this year.

The complex is designed by the Singapore-based team of global architecture, urbanism and design practice Broadway Malyan.

The new mall will sit at the heart of the wider Century City development and will include a strong mix of retail (from supermarket to lifestyle and fashion brands), cinemas and a roof-top garden and bar.

“Century City Mall is an iconic project which is set to transform Makati City and the announcement of the completion date is testament to strong progress on the scheme,” said Broadway Malyan practice director Ian Simpson.

The Broadway Malyan-conceived roof garden is the central design feature for the scheme. Intended to create an open space which offers a complementary rooftop area to the green paths that thread through the development, the roof garden will accommodate stylish al fresco dining and a bar. It continues the overall emphasis on quality, experience and liveability which is core to the Century City design approach.

“Century City Mall will exemplify the best in modern retail design and architecture,” said Century Properties co-COO Marco Antonio. “It will be the most exciting retail development in Makati City after many years.
