Ministop enters Indonesia

Japanese convenience chain Ministop has added Indonesia to its list of overseas markets.

Ministop has opened its first Indonesia store in Kota Tangerang Selatan. Its franchisee, PT Bahagia Niaga Lestari (BNL), plans opening 10 more stores in the remaining year.

BNL is a subsidiary of PT Supra Boga Lestari (RANC) which operates supermarkets Farmers Market and Ranch Market.

Ministop stores in Indonesia will be modelled after its stores in Japan. Each store will have an investment of 1.5 billion rupiah to 2 billion rupiah (around US$202,000).

Indonesia is the sixth overseas market Ministop has entered after China, South Korea, Vietnam, Philippines and Kazakhstan.

The convenience chain has more than 2300 stores outside Japan.
