Le Creuset plans own stores in India

French cookware brand Le Creuset is to grow its business in India by opening its own stores.

The plan comes after the brand gained permission from the Indian government to open under 100 per cent foreign ownership.

“Retail is a big business for us. Le Creuset will aggressively grow its business in India,” said commercial manager Ankur Damani.

“As we are a premium company, we would only set up our stores in premium locations,” adds Damani.

For the time being, Le Creuset will open pop-up shops at premium malls.

“Apart from pop-up shops, we are also looking at tapping e-commerce channels,” said Damani.

Le Creuset did not disclose the amount of investment nor the number of stores it will open in India.
