Gap seeks Indian partner

American retailer Gap is reported to be finalising talks with Indian online retailer Myntra for a possible tie-up.

Myntra is likely to operate Gap’s online business in India, slated for launch simultaneously with the opening of its first bricks and mortar store early next year.

Mukesh Bansal, co-founder and CEO of Myntra, did not confirm the report, however, he said they’re in talks with multiple international brands and will make announcements over the next few months.

Gap’s offline business is likely to be operated by Arvind Brands.

Gap, like many foreign brands, is attracted to India’s e-commerce sector, which is projected to hit $8.5 billion by 2016.
