Shanghai will be home to the world’s largest Disney store when it opens next year.
The construction of the massive Disney store has started in the Lujiazui Finance District. The 53,000 will include a a retail store and a Disney-themed outdoor plaza.
“Disney has combined the retail concept with storytelling, fun and innovation and will provide families with a unique entertainment destination featuring our best-loved stories and characters,” said Stanley Cheung, EVP and MD of Disney China.
He said the Disney store will feature the largest and most diverse collection of Disney products by local and international designers.
The Walt Disney Company has also collaborated with Shanghai Shendi Group to build a Disney Resort in Shanghai, expected to open by the end of 2015. It will feature a Disney-themed hotel, with 800 rooms over seven floors.
