Dufry renews Cambodian concessions

Swiss travel retailer Dufry has renewed its concessions contracts at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap International Airports – and has been awarded additional retail space.

Dufry will continue to operate duty free retailing at both airports until 2020 and has also been awarded a further 1670 sqm of space, allowing it to expand its current 773 sqm retail area in Phnom Penh to 1550 sqm and its 571 sqm in Siam Reap to 1464 sqm.

Julian Diaz, CEO of Dufry Group, said: “The renewal and extension of retail space allow us to further develop the business in Cambodia. The operations in Cambodia are a significant part of our global portfolio and the close proximity to China provides a solid basis for success.”

Phnom Penh International Airport is the largest airport in the country. In 2013, the airport welcomed 2.3 million passengers, an increase of 15 per cent over 2012.

Siem Reap International Airport is Cambodia’s busiest airport based on passenger traffic, serving Siem Reap, a popular tourist destination due to nearby UNESCO world heritage listed Angkor Wat. It welcomed 2.5 million passengers in 2013, 20 per cent more than 2012.
