Ports 1961 celebrates new Hong Kong store

Canadian fashion brand Ports 1961 has opened a new store in Hong Kong.
“The opening of our Hong Kong Canton Road store demonstrates Ports 1961’s commitment to expanding their presence in one of Asia’s leading fashion capitals,” said Ports 1961 CEO Salem Cibani, who was in town for a gala launch of the new autumn-winter collection this week.
“Together with (creative director) Milan Vukmirovic on board for our Autumn Winter 15 collection, Ports 1961 is surely the brand that everyone should be paying attention to,” he said.
Ports 1961 was founded in 1961 by Luke Tanabe as Newport Canada, originally to import clothing from Japan. It was later renamed Ports International and later still Ports 1961, or colloquially as just Ports. It is owned by Hong Kong-listed Ports Design.
For most of its life it has specialised in women’s fashion, but expanded into menswear in 2011.
With menswear specialist and one of the western brands riding a new wave of popularity for men’s fashion, a market currently growing at twice the speed of womens fashion in Asia.
The new store is located on Canton Rd.
