Lotte opens Jeju duty free store

Lotte has opened a 6612 sqm Jeju duty free store.

The new store, built at a cost of US$72 million, spans three floors of the Lotte City Hotel in Jeju city’s Doryeong-ro district, in the island’s CBD.

Lotte Duty Free says it is nearly three times the size of the older store it replaces.

Lee Hong Kyun, Lotte Duty Free’s president, says the company plans to develop other entertainment and cultural attractions nearby to draw even more tourist customers to the site “Lotte Duty Free Jeju store, standing on the base of its local corporation, Lotte Duty Free Jeju Co Ltd, will make a shopping cluster in Jeju and attract foreign tourists in accordance with the tourism development policy of Jeju,” he said at the store’s opening ceremony.

The new store is predominantly targeting Mainland Chinese tourists and includes a cosmetics zone boasting 70 international perfume and cosmetics brands.

“Lotte Duty Free has analysed the preferences of Chinese tourists and launched 270 brands, including global luxury brands, jewellery, accessories, cosmetics, watches, liquor and tobacco.” the company said in a press statement.

“The global luxury jewellery brands Bvlgari and Tiffany & Co are exclusively located in Lotte Duty Free Jeju store.”
