A student who videoed women in the changing rooms of Cotton On shops across the island has been jailed for 32 months.

Loh Wei Quan on Friday pleaded guilty to 16 of 49 charges of ‘insulting modesty’ and one of possessing obscene films when he appeared in court last Friday. He was apprehended on November 15 in a Cotton On store in Bedok Mall after a female customer noticed him filming in the fitting room and summonsed store staff.

It brought to an end a nine month long fetish for filming by the 22 year old. Cotton On is typically popular with young women from their teens to late 20s, but no other reason why he selected this chain – or whether other retail stores were targeted – emerged during the court hearing.

The day he was caught he had filmed five women including a 14 year old girl who was visibly distressed when shown his five minute video of her.

He told the court he was inspired after watching other perverts’ movie uploaded to social media platform Tumblr and thought he would try it himself.
