Kuon to open Causeway Bay pop-up

Japanese fashion design company Kuon opens a pop-up store in Hong Kong tomorrow, running through until May 1.
At Hide & Seek in Causeway Bay, the outlet will be visited by Kuon director Arata Furiwara on April 23, while designer Shin-ichiro Ishibashi will give a stitching demonstration.
Kuon, which means “eternity”, “remote past or future” and “permanence”, has a philosophy of addressing social agenda via fashion business, according to its website.
“We believe that fashion has the power to make people excited,” says the company. “Kuon challenges the mass-production and consumption approach. Instead, we propose products and lifestyle where ‘stylish’ and ‘socially good’ can go together. Kuon products are a bridge between people and society.”
Designer Shin-ichiro Ishibashi served his apprenticeship with a tailor in the Marunouchi area of Tokyo, then worked as pattern maker for a manufacturer at Paris Collection. In 2014 he became independent, taking on his present role this year.
