Siam Piwat opens first Aland Thailand store

South Korean fast-fashion retailer Aland has opened its first store in Thailand.

Taking a 730 sqm space on the second floor of the Siam Center shopping mall in central Bangkok, the Aland Thailand store is the first to be franchised outside Korea and the first in Southeast Asia.

To date, Aland has 16 of its own stores in South Korea and three in Hong Kong.

The brand boasts more than 10,000 lifestyle and fashion products for men and women, including unisex apparel, beauty products and accessories.

The store has been brought to Thailand by Fashion Brand Retail, a subsidiary of mall operator Siam Piwat. MD Chairoj Sridecharinkul says the company is budgeting for THB100 million in sales by the end of this year. FBR has five-year rights to operate Aland stores in Thailand.

“We plan to open about four Aland franchise stores locally over the next five years. In addition to the first Aland store at Siam Center, the second Aland outlet will be opened at IconSiam, a retail complex on a bank of the Chao Phraya River, which will commence by next year. Meanwhile, the other two will be free-standing stores to be opened outside the group’s shopping complexes,” he told The Nation newspaper.

“With rising popularity of Korean culture and fashion in Thailand, we are confident that sales of Aland [goods] will grow strongly to more than Bt100 million targeted for this year, and grow by another 15 per cent annually for the following years.”
