Wynn Macau retail sales slump

Retail sales at Wynn Macau Ltd’s two properties slumped last year.

According to a US regulatory filing, entertainment, retail and other revenues decreased US$9 million last year “primarily due to decreased sales at owned-retail outlets at Wynn Macau”.

However the company did not break down its retail data by shopping centre.

Wynn Macau, the company’s original property in the territory, comprises about 59,000sqft of luxury retail space and 12 food-and-beverage outlets.

Wynn Palace features about 106,000sqft retail space;  and 14 food-and-beverage outlets.

The company is about to extend its retail space as part of the $62 million redevelopment of the Wynn Club gaming area at Wynn Macau.

When completed, the space will include new gaming areas along with two new restaurants and about 7000sqft of retail space as well as providing improved pedestrian access from the boardwalk. The retail space and restaurants are expected to begin trading in the fourth quarter of this year.
