Ikea’s Ikano Centers has launched a drive-thru F&B concept next to Ikea Batu Kawan in North Malaysia.
The new feature will occupy a 200,744sqft area, featuring the current dine-in Ikea restaurant and new F&B tenants. The project is expected to be fully operational by the middle of next year.
“For many, drive-thrus have become a quintessential part of their lifestyle and may play a crucial role in our ‘new normal’,” said Christian Roejkjaer, MD of Ikea Southeast Asia & Mexico. “Building our first drive-thru concept in Batu Kawan is one way for us to create a safe and positive space for the community to come out and enjoy their favourite food.”
McDonald’s Malaysia will be the first partner to join the on-the-go concept. The restaurant will take up about 35,000sqft space, becoming Penang’s 16th free-standing McDonald’s Malaysia outlet.
