Drumroll, please: Introducing Asia’s most influential retail leaders

For the first time ever, Inside Retail Asia has published a list of the region’s most influential retail leaders.

“Influence” is such a subjective word. It’s hard to describe, but once you come across someone with that kind of leadership and spirit, you know immediately exactly what it means.

In our view, the notable retail business people on this list go beyond just being in charge of their businesses. They’ve made an impact on the industry, or they’re a pioneer in their space. Perhaps they’ve changed the way that we think about retail or they’ve shifted the landscape, re-defining the shopping centre experience like K11’s Adrian Cheng or re-imagining the O2O experience like Pomelo’s David Jou. Meanwhile, Harvey Nichols’ Pearson Poon has recently launched an NFT retail space, while Love Bonito CEO Dione Song is creating a tight-knit community of fashionistas. These entrepreneurs prove that in spite of the Covid rollercoaster, there is always space for experimentation, reinvention and growth.

As Jou told Inside Retail: “Everywhere we look, we see opportunities for innovation to reinvent how things are done to create better products, better serve customers.”

When the Inside Retail Asia team created this diverse list of remarkable men and women, we looked across Asia from India and Thailand to Vietnam, Japan and beyond. We also considered retail leaders working within a wide range of categories including grocery, fashion, electronics, e-commerce, home improvement and pharmacy. Some work for large, established retail businesses that continue to innovate. Others are smaller, taking the leap into the unknown and finding creative new ways to connect with customers.

Here’s to the pioneers, the changemakers, the industry movers and shakers. We celebrate you.
