Chinese lifestyle brand Miniso has reopened its Vaughan Mills store in the Greater Toronto Area and introduced its new “$2 Plus” concept to the market.

The Vaughan Mills shop is one of the first four to be remodelled for the “$2 Plus” concept, joining outlets in Toronto’s Scarborough, Markham, and Vancouver.

Miniso’s goal is to give customers low-cost products, while the brand provides more variety and higher-quality goods, in response to the consequences of rising inflation on consumer budgets.

“With affordable prices and a unique treasure hunt shopping experience in-store, our ‘$2 Plus’ stores aim to be the go-to place for everyone looking for quality lifestyle products on a budget,” said Bella Tu, GM of Miniso Overseas Operations.

In addition, Miniso also launched its 2000th store outside of China, marking the latest step in the brand’s global expansion since 2015.

The store, the brand’s 18th in France, is located in Saint Genis 2 shopping centre. It features a retail space of 200sqm and is wheelchair accessible, with shelves spaced 1.4m apart for easy navigation.

Miniso, founded in 2013 by Jack Ye, had by June this year grown to about 5200 stores worldwide. Since May 2017, the brand has opened 50 stores across Canada. It opened its first French store in Paris in October 2020.

Miniso has about 200 locations across Europe, but the discount lifestyle retailer says China remains its most important market.
