Thai shopping centre operator The Mall Group is set to launch its US$403 million development, The Emsphere, at the end of next year after postponing it for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Emsphere secured a 200,000sqm area adjacent to Sukhumvit Road and will be home to retail space, entertainment and a hotel. The company said it has spent more than $13.3 million on the architectural design.

The mall will boast a portfolio of renowned brands, including Thailand’s third Apple store, Tesla and Ikea’s first city centre concept stores in Thailand, and more than 100 restaurants. Luxury fashion brands to open in the mall include Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Chanel, Celine and Dior.

The development will also introduce a 20,000sqm arena with a capacity of more than 6000 seats.

The Mall Group says it hopes to welcome between 80,000 and 100,000 visitors daily.

The Emsphere marks the last piece of The Em District megaproject after The Emporium and The EmQuartier.

“We believe The Em District will be the next important chapter in the retail history, as well as the tourism industry and related business,” said Kriengsak Tantiphiphop, CEO of The Em District Group.

This will build the confidence of investors, both Thai and international. Thailand will become prominent in the world’s retail industry, like never before.”
