Fashion tech start-up Unspun has opened its first permanent brick-and-mortar location in Hong Kong, which is also its first store in Asia.

Unspun, founded in 2017 sells custom-made jeans after customers use mobile scanning software to create a 3D scan of their body shape to ensure the perfect fit. The concept means clothing is produced for consumers when they are ready to buy with no warehousing of ready-to-wear products required and thus, less wastage.

The studio is located on a restaurant and cafe-filled slope in Sheung Wan and has a modern style and three major theme colours: white, orange, and metallic.

The store also includes 3D-printed recycled plastic prototypes created in partnership with the design studio Editecture, with the goal of transforming recycled garbage into furniture pieces, matching the brand’s sustainability strategy.

“This is a space dedicated to climate action through tech and culture. Denim is our canvas – and the design of the store reflects that,” said Walden Lam, co-founder and CEO of Unspun.

BCorp-certified Unspun has stores in San Francisco and London, in addition to Hong Kong. It previously ran a pop-up at The Mills Fabrica in Hong Kong, showcasing its technology.
